we provide the following fine art printing services:

SERIGRAPH (def)

A screenprinted reproduction of an art piece, usually in a limited-edition run, signed and numbered by the artist. Many North American native prints are produced by this method, and can range from a simple one-colour print to the most complex multi-colour.  Serigraphs can often be found hanging in the finest galleries. Check out our gallery, or contact us to discuss your project or to see some examples.

GICLEE (def)

Giclee (jee-clay) is the term for a mechanically produced print using a computer graphics file and a high-resolution, wide-format inkjet printer. Giclee printers accomodate a much broader range of substrates than traditional lithography, including textured watercolour papers and canvas.

Artists generally use giclée printing to make high end reproductions of paintings, photographs or computer-generated art. Per print, professionally-produced inkjet prints are much more expensive than the 4-colour offset lithography process. However, since the artist can print and sell each print individually in accordance with demand, inkjet printing can be an economical alternative. Inkjet printing has the added advantage of allowing artists total control of the production of their images, including the colors and the substrates on which they are printed.

Inkjet printers use archival, pigmented inks to produce prints which truly capture the artist's original intent. Even museums have realized the vast potential of this technology and have made giclee editions a permanent part of their collections. For the curious minds, here is a downloadable pdf on lightfastness of prints from the Epson 3800. Please refer to the Ultrachrome Ink column, second from the right.
